What is the dead load, and how do you calculate it?

I hope you had a great weekend and could recharge your batteries.

This was the first weekend in (I think) 2 months that I was home both days, which meant that I had loads of time to work on Structural Basics.

I planned out the content for the next months and published the first YouTube video in 9 months.

It’s a 7 minutes long tutorial explaining the dead load…

I tried a new format which lets me produce videos much quicker. Please let me know how you like it.

I have 4 days left at the office before my 2.5 week vacation. I am very excited, to be honest. The last months have been very intense with both work and social life. Almost every weekend, I was either travelling or I had friends and family visiting me here in Copenhagen.

Now, on Thursday, I am travelling to my hometown, Kempten. We always have our 10-day beer festival (something like Oktoberfest) there in mid-August, which is great to catch up with people I haven’t seen in a long time. The week after, I will go on a hiking trip in the Alps, hiking from cabin to cabin. This will probably be the first time in years that I won’t bring my laptop.
